Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

Reckon One is the cloud accounting product of Reckon Limited, an ASX-listed vendor from North Sydney that started out in 1987 distributing QuickBooks in Australia. It covers invoicing, including recurring invoices, bank feeds through Open Banking or direct feeds, card payments through Stripe, GST and BAS lodgement, budgets and more than 30 reports. Higher plans add timesheets, project tracking, advanced reporting and inventory. Payroll is compliant with Single Touch Payroll and Payday Super, and is sold either as a separate tier or bundled into the top plan. It suits Australian sole traders and small businesses that want cheaper books than Xero or MYOB and local phone and chat support seven days a week. Pricing is a flat monthly subscription per business, not per user, and every plan allows unlimited users. In AUD including GST, the list prices are 24 for Accounting Plus, 46 for Premium and 85 for Ultimate, which includes unlimited payroll and inventory. Payroll on its own is priced by headcount: Essentials covers up to 4 employees, Plus up to 10, and Premium is unlimited. Reckon often runs deep introductory discounts. A 30-day trial is available and there is no minimum term. Third-party apps come through the Reckon Add-on Marketplace and an API. The main limitation is a much smaller app ecosystem than Xero or MYOB. Reviewers also report that the help content is confusing, some payroll screens are awkward and the product has no offline mode. Reckon One is also built for Australian rules, so it is a poor fit outside Australia.

Who Reckon One is best for

Good fit

  • Reckon positions Reckon One for small businesses, with low flat prices and unlimited users.

  • The entry plan and invoice app suit sole traders, though the plans are built around businesses.

Less suited

  • Reckon runs a partner network for accountants and bookkeepers, but it sold its practice-management business in 2022.

  • Enterprise
    2/10

It has no multi-entity consolidation and targets small businesses only.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Every plan has a flat monthly price with unlimited users, so adding staff does not raise the bill.
  • Reviewers often call it cheaper than Xero while covering the core invoicing and bookkeeping tasks.
  • Payroll complies with Single Touch Payroll and Payday Super, and businesses can buy it on its own by headcount.
  • Australian phone and chat support is open seven days a week.
  • There is no minimum term, and a 30-day trial comes with a free onboarding session.

Cons

  • Its app marketplace is much smaller than Xero's or MYOB's, and reviewers mention a lack of direct integrations.
  • Reviewers find the help content confusing and say the newer payroll screens are not user friendly.
  • There is no offline mode, which users have raised in Reckon's own community forum.
  • Inventory is capped at 10 items unless you buy the Ultimate plan.
  • It is built for Australian tax rules, so it is a poor fit for businesses elsewhere.
