Overview
Lexware Office was called lexoffice until 2024. It is a browser-based accounting tool from Haufe-Lexware in Freiburg, and it is built around German bookkeeping rules. You capture receipts by upload or phone scan, connect any number of bank accounts, and the software suggests bookings that you can confirm in batches. The higher plans add quotes, invoices, dunning, ZUGFeRD and XRechnung e-invoices, EÜR and BWA reports, and VAT returns sent directly to ELSTER. Tax advisors can be given access, and the books can be exported to DATEV. It suits sole traders, freelancers and small German firms that want to do their own books or share them with an accountant. Pricing has four monthly plans with no minimum term. S costs 7.90 euros and covers receipt capture. M costs 12.90 euros and adds invoicing. L costs 21.90 euros and adds full bookkeeping and VAT. XL costs 32.90 euros and adds EU and down-payment invoices plus the public API. All prices exclude VAT. Payroll for up to 50 employees is an optional add-on starting at 12.90 euros a month. There are more than 120 add-ons and integrations, including Shopify, WooCommerce and time-tracking tools. The main limitation is scope. It works only in euros, cannot manage several companies, and has basic reporting with no cost centres or approval workflows. That makes it a poor fit for growing or international companies.
