Overview
Fortnox is a web-based business system from Växjö, Sweden, used by more than 700,000 companies according to its website. It is built around Swedish bookkeeping practice. The modules cover bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll, supplier invoice approval (Levfakturaattest), a fixed asset register, and reporting and analysis. There is also a Fortnox company card, in-app payments that let you sign and pay without logging into your bank, and financing such as invoice sales and business loans. Accounting firms get a separate bureau package for working in their clients' books. Pricing is sold as packages on 12-month agreements, priced per organisation number. The from-prices, including the Fortnox Access base fee, are Mini at 238 kr per month, Liten at 378 kr, Mellan+ at 688 kr and Stor+ at 948 kr. Prices exclude VAT. Access is mandatory and scales with how many vouchers the company booked in the last 12 months, from 9 to 199 kr per month. A three-month term adds 15 percent to list prices. There are also usage fees for invoices, paid employees, interpreted documents and travel reports, so the real monthly cost can rise well above the list price. The marketplace lists more than 500 integrations, among them Shopify, WooCommerce, Stripe, PayPal and Zettle, and an open API is available. A single 189 kr integration licence covers any number of connections. The main limitation is that Fortnox is built for Swedish companies. The interface is largely Swedish, and international users report missing neobank integrations and dated reporting. It suits Swedish SMEs and their accountants, not multinational groups.
