Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

AccountView is a Dutch financial administration package that Visma Software BV develops and sells. It was built in Amsterdam, has been part of the Visma group since 2007, and the original company ran under its own name until 2012. The core package covers the general ledger, debtor management with automated payment reminders, bank statement import with an optional direct bank link, automatic payments, recurring entries, cost centres, foreign currency and budgeting. Bundles for trade (sales orders, inventory and purchasing), projects and hours, and accountancy extend it further. You can run it locally on Windows, through a hosting partner, or as AccountView Online. Underneath, it is a classic desktop application whose data sits in FoxPro tables. Pricing is a monthly rental priced by the number of users working at the same time. Team is from 137.50 euros per month with two simultaneous users and can grow to five. Business is from 247.50 euros per month, allows unlimited administrations and gives access to all modules. Extra users and bundles such as invoicing (55 euros per month) or Handel (170 euros per month) cost extra. The vendor cites 89 integrations, including Visma services such as AutoInvoice, Approval and AutoReport, UBL e-invoicing, Nmbrs payroll, CaseWare and Visionplanner. A Web API is available, and third parties such as Invantive, Zenvoices and Omniboost offer connectors. AccountView suits established Dutch SMEs and accounting practices that want a configurable, module-based package. Its main limitation is the legacy design: one administration per fiscal year, a Netherlands-only focus, and add-on pricing that quickly costs more than modern cloud tools.

Who AccountView is best for

Good fit

  • It offers an accountancy bundle, central client management and links to CaseWare and Visionplanner for accounting practices.

Less suited

  • The Business edition has unlimited administrations, scales by concurrent users and can use all modules.

  • Visma positions the product for Dutch SMEs, but even the entry price of 137.50 euros per month is high for very small firms.

  • Pricing and complexity are built for multi-user organisations, not sole traders.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Deployment is flexible: run it on your own Windows server, through a hosting partner, or as AccountView Online.
  • Team and Business both include unlimited administrations, which helps groups and accounting practices.
  • The modular bundles cover trade, inventory, projects and hours, so it stretches beyond pure bookkeeping.
  • The vendor cites 89 integrations, including Visma AutoInvoice, Approval, UBL e-invoicing, Nmbrs and CaseWare.
  • A Web API and third-party connectors such as Invantive give access to the data for BI tools like Power BI.

Cons

  • It is expensive: Team starts at 137.50 euros per month, and invoicing alone costs another 55 euros per month.
  • The legacy FoxPro-based architecture creates a new administration for each fiscal year, which complicates master data, according to Zenvoices.
  • It is aimed only at the Dutch market and the Dutch language.
  • Some features, such as the audit trail and automatic payments, need extra modules.
  • There is little public user review coverage on G2, Capterra or SourceForge.
