Overview

Epicor Kinetic is the main ERP product from Epicor, an Austin-based software company. It is built for manufacturers that make, distribute and service goods. The finance part sits on top of a central general ledger and covers accounts payable, accounts receivable with recurring billing and credit limits, and bank connections with automatic statement reconciliation. It also handles multiple books, currencies and languages. Multi-company setups keep separate ledgers for each legal entity and support intercompany transactions, eliminations and consolidated reporting. Budgeting includes approval workflows and top-down or bottom-up scenarios. For sales tax, Epicor offers Tax Connect, and Sovos is available as an integration for wider tax compliance. Kinetic can run in the cloud, in a hybrid setup or on-premise. Its strongest fit is mid-sized discrete and mixed-mode manufacturers that want shop floor, supply chain and finance in one system. Epicor does not publish prices. Third-party sources describe subscription pricing based on users and modules, usually on annual or multi-year terms, with implementation partners adding to the cost. Expense management and payroll are not core strengths. Spend tools such as BILL, Brex and Emburse are listed as add-on integrations, and payroll appears mainly as a link to time entries or as a separate HR module. Reviewers most often criticise the cost and effort of implementation. They also cite upgrades made harder by customisations, a complex report builder (BAQ) and uneven support quality. That makes Kinetic heavy for small firms or service businesses that only need accounting.
