Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology
Overview
Glean connects to a company's work apps and indexes their content. Glean lists more than 275 apps and data sources, including Slack, Google Drive, Jira, Confluence, SharePoint, GitHub and Salesforce. Employees get one search bar and a chat assistant that answers questions with citations back to the source documents. Results respect the permissions in each source system, so people only see content they could already open. A knowledge graph built from roles, teams and collaboration patterns personalizes the rankings. Glean has also added an agent builder and workflow automation, and it routes tasks across more than 40 LLMs. Developers get a Client API, an Indexing API for custom connectors, a Web SDK, agent toolkits for frameworks such as LangChain and CrewAI, and an MCP server. Glean is built for large enterprises. Its security certifications include SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, HIPAA and TX-RAMP Level 2. Glean does not publish prices; quotes come through sales. Third-party reports, mostly from competitors, put seats at about 50 dollars or more per user per month, with minimum contracts of roughly 100 seats and 50,000 to 60,000 dollars a year. A newer Enterprise Flex model adds pooled credits for premium models, agents and deep research. The main limitation is cost and setup effort. There is no self-serve plan or free trial, sales cycles and proofs of concept can take weeks, and the minimum contract puts it out of reach for small companies.
Our Rating
Who Glean is best for
Good fit
Contract minimums of about 100 seats, permission-aware search and broad compliance certifications all target large organizations.
Glean promotes consulting as an industry solution, and knowledge-heavy firms benefit from searching across many apps.
Less suited
Larger mid-market firms can clear the reported minimum contract of 50,000 to 60,000 dollars, but the cost is steep at this size.
Reviewers say minimum contracts and opaque pricing make Glean a poor fit for small budgets.
There is no self-serve or free plan, and minimum seat counts are reported at around 100.
