Overview

Dotdigital, formerly known as dotmailer, is a UK marketing automation platform from Dotdigital Group plc, which is listed on London's AIM market. It began in 1999 in Croydon as a web design agency. The platform pulls customer data into one place and lets marketers run campaigns across email, SMS and MMS, WhatsApp, mobile app push, web personalization and ad audiences. You get a drag-and-drop email builder, a visual automation program builder, segmentation, A/B testing, landing pages, forms and pop-ups, transactional email, and AI features through its WinstonAI assistant and newer AI agents. The product suite now also includes Loyalty, Alia and Social Snowball. It suits mid-market and enterprise retail and ecommerce teams, plus charities, sports clubs and travel brands. Native connectors for Shopify, Adobe Commerce (Magento), BigCommerce, Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics and Shopware are central to its pitch, and the vendor lists more than 200 integrations. Data is hosted on Azure and Google Cloud in EU, US and Australian regions. Pricing depends on how many contacts you have and how much you send, and you get a quote after a demo. Third-party sites quote entry plans in the hundreds of dollars a month, but those figures disagree with each other. Its main drawbacks are cost and contract terms. Some reviewers report multi-year rolling contracts and say the platform is costly for small senders. Others mention limits on HTML templates and integrations that are hard to set up without the API.
