Overview

Airpelago is a Gothenburg company, founded in 2018, that runs drone inspections of power lines and sells the software it uses for the work. On the service side, it offers annual, detailed, LiDAR and storm inspections for low and medium voltage lines, and annual, detailed and Detailed+ inspections for high voltage lines. It also offers consulting to help utilities set up their own drone programmes, including flight permits and data standards. The software, Airpelago Power, grew out of an earlier cloud ground station called Drone Mission Control. It imports geo-data from a utility's network information system and generates automated flight plans for large line projects. It also covers risk assessment, no-fly zones, checklists, deviation reports, progress tracking and flight log storage. It supports DJI Matrice 4E/4T, Mavic 3E/3T, Matrice 350 RTK and M400 drones, along with Zenmuse L2, Zenmuse P1 and Phase One P3 payloads. Collected data can be forwarded automatically to third-party analysis platforms. For high-security projects there is a desktop client. The company lists E.ON, Svensk Kraftnät, Ellevio, Vattenfall, Electricity North West and Netze BW among its clients, and it says it has inspected more than 190,000 km of line. Airpelago does not publish prices, so buyers must contact sales. Its main limitation is narrow scope. The software is built for planning and flying linear-infrastructure drone missions, not for defect analysis, asset maintenance or work orders. Detailed analysis relies on partner platforms, and there are almost no public user reviews to check the vendor's claims against.
