7/10

Mural is a visual collaboration whiteboard for teams that run workshops, brainstorms, agile planning and retrospectives, with facilitation tools and enterprise security controls.

Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

Mural is an online whiteboard where teams build boards called murals. These hold sticky notes, diagrams, templates and media. The product stands out for its facilitation features, which Mural calls Facilitation Superpowers, and its LUMA design-thinking frameworks. Both make it a good fit for running structured workshops, retrospectives and planning sessions with internal teams or outside clients. Mural says more than half of the Fortune 100 use it, and its controls lean toward enterprise buyers: SSO, SCIM, audit logs, data residency and bring-your-own-key encryption. It holds SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 certifications. Pricing is per member. The Free plan allows three editable murals at a time. Team+ costs $9.99 per member per month billed annually, or $12 billed monthly, and adds unlimited murals, private rooms and Mural AI. Business costs $17.99 per member per month billed annually and adds SSO, guests, advanced integrations and priority support. Enterprise is quoted on request. Integrations cover Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, Slack, Jira, Azure DevOps, Asana, Confluence, Trello, Linear, Figma, Salesforce, Google Workspace and Zapier. The main limitation for project management buyers is that Mural is not a task or project tracker. It has no Gantt charts, no time tracking and no task assignment workflow, so the output of a session has to be carried into Jira, Asana or a similar tool to be executed. Reviewers also complain that menus and features move around often between releases.
