Overview

Liquid Web is a managed hosting company founded in 1997 in Lansing, Michigan. Its core products are virtual private servers and dedicated servers. You can run them self-managed with root access, or fully managed, with the Liquid Web team handling monitoring, updates and server hardening. There are two VPS lines. Fixed-plan VPS starts at 18 dollars a month for 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM. Cloud VPS comes in compute, memory and CPU-optimized sizes, from 11 dollars a month, and is also billed hourly. Featured managed dedicated servers start at about 163 dollars a month and include cPanel, DDoS protection and 500 GB of Acronis backups. Bigger Intel Xeon configurations run up to roughly 845 dollars a month. Two-year terms bring discounts. On the dedicated and VPS pages you can choose between the cPanel, Plesk and InterWorx control panels. Linux or Windows is available on the VPS plans, and Windows licences cost extra. Data centers are in the US, Europe and Australia, and the VPS and dedicated pages promise 99.99 percent uptime. The dedicated page also promises hardware replacement within 30 minutes. The best fit is small and mid-sized businesses, agencies and ecommerce sites that want a provider to run their servers and offer 24/7 human support. The main limitation is price. Reviewers say it costs more than budget hosts, it has no built-in CDN, and the control panels can confuse beginners. Some recent user reviews also say support quality has slipped since the company changed hands.
