Overview
Terrasolid is a family of Windows applications from a Finnish company that has worked on LiDAR software for more than 30 years. TerraScan is the core module. It classifies point clouds automatically and gives you semi-automatic and manual tools to refine the results. It also vectorizes power line wires, places tower models, analyses danger objects near lines, builds 3D building models up to LOD2, and extracts road features such as paint lines and curbs. Other modules extend the suite. TerraModeler handles surface and terrain models. TerraMatch handles strip alignment and calibration, and TerraPhoto handles orthophotos and imagery. TerraBatch runs processing macros over a network, TerraStereo handles stereo viewing, and TerraSplat views gaussian splats. The software runs inside Bentley MicroStation or Terrasolid's bundled Spatix CAD engine, not as a standalone app. Pricing is public and in euros, and each module is bought separately. You can buy a perpetual licence with annual maintenance at 15 percent of the licence price, or an annual subscription that includes maintenance. TerraScan costs 5,700 EUR perpetual or 1,710 EUR a year. Cheaper UAV and Lite editions cut features for drone or smaller projects. It reads LAS, LAZ, E57 and PLY, and it is widely used for DJI Zenmuse L1 data after DJI Terra. Its main users are survey firms, drone service providers and power utilities that run corridor mapping. The main drawbacks are that a full workflow needs several modules and that it runs only on Windows inside a CAD host. Review sites also show almost no public user reviews.
Our Rating
Who Terrasolid is best for
Good fit
UAV editions and DJI L1 workflows are aimed directly at drone LiDAR operators.
Survey and engineering firms use it for classification, terrain models and CAD-ready vectors.
TerraScan includes power line wire vectorization, tower placement and danger object analysis.
Corridor mapping and power line tools fit grid operators.
Less suited
Supports large-scale airborne mapping and 3D building models used in national mapping.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The vendor's pricing page publishes euro prices for every module, edition and licence type.
- You can choose a perpetual licence with maintenance or an annual subscription.
- TerraScan has dedicated power line tools, including wire vectorization, tower models and danger object analysis.
- UAV and Lite editions cost much less than the full versions, which suits drone operators.
- TerraBatch can run classification macros over a LAN, which helps with large datasets.
Cons
- It runs only on Windows and needs MicroStation or Spatix as a host.
- A complete workflow usually means buying several separately priced modules.
- Review sites such as Slashdot and SourceForge show no user reviews.
- There is no cloud or web version for collaboration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Most modules come either as a perpetual licence with annual maintenance at about 15 percent of the licence price, or as an annual subscription that includes maintenance. TerraSplat is sold only as a subscription.
No. The applications run inside Bentley MicroStation or Spatix, a CAD engine whose licences are included in the software price according to Terrasolid.
LAS, LAZ, E57 and PLY, plus TerraScan binary formats and user-defined ASCII.
Yes. Resellers position it as the next processing step after DJI Terra for Zenmuse L1 data, and recent builds read DJI Terra splats.
