Raptor Maps

5.9/10

Raptor Maps is solar asset management software that turns drone, robotic and sensor inspection data into a map-based digital twin for solar owners, O&M providers and EPCs.

Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology

Overview

Raptor Maps, based in Somerville, Massachusetts, makes software and robotics for running utility-scale solar plants. Its main platform, Raptor Solar, analyses imagery from aerial, ground and sensor sources. It flags module, erosion, vegetation and balance-of-system defects, then places the findings in a map-based digital twin of each site that can be viewed on desktop or mobile. Raptor Solar Sentry adds remotely operated autonomous drones. They fly scheduled, alert-triggered or on-demand missions and can respond to SCADA alerts, fires or storms without sending staff to the site. The RS Mobile app gives technicians checklist tasks and remediation context, and it works without cell signal. A REST API using OAuth lets teams pull farms, inspections and anomaly data into other systems. The product suits independent power producers, solar O&M contractors and EPCs that manage large portfolios. It also serves drone pilots who capture thermography for solar clients. The company says its data covers more than 125 GW of PV capacity. Pricing is not published, and buyers have to arrange a demo or contact sales. The main limitation is that the tool is built only for solar PV, so it will not serve wind, utilities or general industrial assets. Independent review data is also scarce: G2 and SourceForge list no user reviews, which makes it hard to check the vendor's claims before talking to sales.

Who Raptor Maps is best for

Good fit

  • Built specifically for solar asset owners and independent power producers.

  • Solar O&M providers get defect findings, checklist tasks and an offline mobile app.

  • Drone pilots upload solar thermography to the platform to produce inspection deliverables.

  • Aimed at portfolio-scale operators, and the vendor reports data from thousands of sites.

Less suited

  • EPCs use it for commissioning inspections built from as-built data models.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Built only for solar, so defect detection and reporting are tailored to PV modules and balance-of-system equipment.
  • Solar Sentry autonomous drones can launch missions from SCADA alerts or after storms without anyone travelling to the site.
  • The mobile app works offline, which helps technicians at remote solar sites with poor signal.
  • An OAuth-based API exposes farms, inspections and anomalies for use in other systems.
  • Well funded, with a $35M Series C in late 2024 from Maverix and existing investors.

Cons

  • No public pricing; every purchase goes through a demo and sales.
  • Limited to solar PV and unsuitable for other asset types.
  • Almost no independent user reviews on G2 or SourceForge.
  • No published security certifications such as SOC 2 were found.
