Overview

NetSuite SuiteProjects Pro is Oracle's professional services automation (PSA) application. It was called NetSuite OpenAir until Oracle renamed it in February 2025, and project data, settings and core tools carried over unchanged. OpenAir started in Boston in 1999, and NetSuite bought it in 2008 for about 26 million dollars. The product covers the whole project delivery cycle: work breakdown structures and project templates, Gantt and timeline views, and skills-based resource management with utilization tracking. A Resource Center added in release 2025.2 lets managers view and change bookings by week or month. It also handles weekly timesheets, expense capture with receipt photos in the mobile app, approval routing, project discussions, and billing in many forms, including time and materials, fixed fee, milestone and retainer. Role-based dashboards report on utilization, realization, margin and backlog. Its strongest integration is an Oracle-maintained, two-way connector to NetSuite ERP. Oracle also provides XML, SOAP and REST APIs and a Business Intelligence Connector. The tool suits consultancies and other services organizations, especially mid-sized and larger firms that already run NetSuite. Oracle does not publish prices, so buyers have to get a quote from sales. Partner estimates describe a base platform fee plus a per-user charge, and implementation projects often cost tens of thousands of dollars and take 8 to 16 weeks. The main drawback, according to reviewers, is the dated, finicky interface with a steep learning curve. It also adds a second application to administer next to NetSuite, with its own release cycle, permissions and integration upkeep.

Who NetSuite SuiteProjects Pro is best for

Good fit

  • It is built for professional services firms, with resource, utilization and billing tools aimed at consulting delivery.

  • Mid-Market
    8/10

Partners position it for services firms that have outgrown native NetSuite projects, typically above about 20 people.

  • Services agencies can use its time, billing and resource features, though it is heavyweight for creative workflows.

  • It supports multi-office firms with cross-office resource sharing and deep ERP integration.

Less suited

  • It is a PSA for services firms, with skills-based resourcing, timesheets and project billing that suit consultancies of this kind.

  • Finance Teams
    6/10

It has billing in many forms, reporting on margin and realization, and a two-way connector to NetSuite ERP.

  • It has mobile time and expense capture, project discussions and approval routing.

  • The mobile app covers expense receipts, but there are no on-site work features.

  • Partners advise against it for teams under about 20 people with simple projects because of its cost and implementation effort.

  • Pricing is by quote only, implementation costs tens of thousands of dollars, and rollout takes 8 to 16 weeks.

  • Sales-led pricing and long implementations make it a poor fit for individuals.
