Overview

Hepta Insights, also sold under the uBird name, is the analytics platform of Hepta Group Airborne, a Tallinn company founded in 2017. Utilities and drone operators upload RGB, thermal, LiDAR, and corona discharge data captured by drones, helicopters, or satellites. The software combines this data into one environment and uses AI to locate and annotate defects on power lines and towers. Hepta says it processes about 250 km of line data in roughly five minutes and finds on average 400 percent more unique defects than manual review, though these figures come from the vendor. Results appear on GPS map-based reports and can be exported as PDF work orders or XLS files for field crews, shared in the cloud, or connected to enterprise systems such as SAP. The product suits distribution and transmission system operators. Hepta names customers including Enefit Connect, E.ON, EDP, Saesa, and DTEK, and says more than 20 operators in 13 countries use it. Hepta also sells drone data collection and managed inspection services, so many customers buy the software together with flights. Pricing is not published. A freemium self-service version was launched for drone operators, and full deployments are quoted after a demo, with the vendor stressing that no upfront investment is required. The main limitation is how narrow the product is. It is built almost entirely around power line inspection, there are no independent user reviews, and there is no public information on pricing, security certifications, or an API.
