Overview
DroneDeploy is a cloud reality capture platform based in San Francisco. It started in drone mapping and now also covers ground capture. Its Flight app automates drone missions, including docked drones on autonomous schedules. The cloud then processes the imagery into high-resolution orthomosaics, 3D models, panoramas and measurements. Ground products add 360 walkthroughs, interior maps, iPhone and iPad 3D scans, BIM and drawing overlays, and robot-based inspections. AI add-ons cover progress reporting and OSHA risk detection. The platform is mainly sold to construction, and its customer logos also include energy, mining and agriculture companies such as bp, ConocoPhillips, Woodside, Rio Tinto and Corteva. Pricing is set by annual subscription. Individual licences are listed at $4,188 a year for Flight & Analysis (3,000 images per map) and $1,908 a year for Ag Lite. Advanced Flight & Analysis, which adds cut/fill, facade inspection and radiometric thermal, is sold through sales. The team and enterprise packages (Aerial, Aerial Pro, Ground, Ground Pro and Unified) are custom-quoted. Add-ons such as Progress AI, Safety AI, Dock Automation, Robotic Automation and a data firewall are also quoted on request. Listed integrations include Esri, Autodesk and Procore. The main limitations are cost and hardware support. Reviewers repeatedly call it expensive. A March 2026 review from a competitor says automated capture works only with DJI drones and that large jobs can take hours to process.

Who DroneDeploy is best for
Good fit
Progress tracking, BIM overlays, Procore and Autodesk sync, and Safety AI all target construction sites.
Individual pilot licences and automated flight planning suit commercial pilots, but reviewers say sharing results with clients who are not subscribers is hard.
The Unified and custom plans, the firewall add-on, and docked and robotic automation are aimed at multi-site enterprises.
Less suited
Oil and gas majors appear among its customers, and it offers thermal and docked drone automation, but it has no dedicated grid tools.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Reviewers on G2 and Capterra say the path from flight planning to finished map is simple, even for new pilots.
- Flights can be planned on a desktop and then opened on an iPad in the field.
- A single platform combines drones, docks, robots, 360 cameras and phone scans.
- It exports and syncs with Esri, Autodesk and Procore.
- Several G2 reviewers describe support as quick and responsive.
Cons
- Price is the most common complaint, and individual licences cost thousands of dollars a year.
- Most team plans and all add-ons require a sales quote.
- Reviewers say it is hard to share results with clients who do not subscribe.
- A competitor's March 2026 review says automated capture supports only DJI drones.
- Users report that small maps can still take a while to process, and a comparison article notes that large datasets need a strong connection.
