Creaform VXinspect
5.4/10Dimensional inspection add-on for Creaform's VXelements that compares 3D scan and probe data against CAD for manufacturing quality control and first article inspection.
Data last updated November 2026 · Our methodology
Overview
VXinspect is Creaform's dimensional inspection module. It runs inside the VXelements platform, which Creaform's newer material calls the Creaform Metrology Suite. It takes measurements from Creaform's handheld 3D scanners, portable probing systems, and photogrammetry and checks them against a nominal CAD model or mesh. Users can align parts by best-fit, entity, or datum methods, then build 3D colormaps of deviations, cut cross-sections, add GD&T callouts such as flatness, cylindricity, true position, and profile, and export the results as reports, including Excel files. Since VXelements 11 in 2023, it has been sold as two modules. VXinspect Analysis is a simpler tool for root cause investigation on one part at a time. VXinspect Quality Control is the fuller package for GD&T and repeatable inspection of multiple parts in later production stages. It is best suited to manufacturers that already own Creaform hardware and want scanning and inspection in one interface. Pricing is not published: buyers get a quote from Creaform or resellers such as GoEngineer, usually alongside a scanner purchase. Its main integration is with Creaform's own devices. Scans from other scanners can come in as STL files, but the software does not drive non-Creaform hardware directly. The main limitation is depth. A reseller comparison rates its advanced inspection capability far below PolyWorks and Geomagic Control X, and notes there is no statistical process control, no link to MES or QC systems, and limited report automation.
Our Rating
Who Creaform VXinspect is best for
Good fit
Built for part-to-CAD inspection, first article inspection, and production quality control.
Less suited
Useful for root cause analysis of dimensional issues during design, through the Analysis module.
A reseller positions it as the low-cost, easy-to-learn choice for teams new to quality control or inspecting low part volumes.
There is no SPC or MES integration, and reporting automation is limited for high-volume quality programs.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Works natively with Creaform scanners, portable probing, and photogrammetry, so one interface covers both measuring and inspecting a part.
- A reseller comparison rates its learning curve and ease of use 5 out of 5, which suits teams new to 3D inspection.
- Rated the lowest-cost option in a GoEngineer comparison against PolyWorks and Geomagic Control X.
- Supports advanced GD&T, including true position and profile for datum reference frames that are free-state or not fully constrained, plus composite pattern tolerances.
- Inspection sequences can be saved and reused on multiple copies of the same part.
Cons
- No statistical process control and no integration with MES or QC systems, according to GoEngineer.
- Advanced inspection capability is rated well below PolyWorks and Geomagic in reseller comparisons.
- Does not work directly with non-Creaform hardware. Scans from other scanners must be imported as STL files.
- No public pricing, so buyers must request a quote.
- Little independent user review coverage is available.

Frequently Asked Questions
Analysis is a simpler module that finds defects with 3D colormaps on one part at a time. Quality Control adds GD&T analysis and inspection of multiple parts for production quality control.
It is built to interface directly with Creaform measuring devices. According to a reseller, data from other scanners can be imported as STL files.
Creaform does not publish prices. Quotes come through Creaform or resellers such as GoEngineer. One comparison places it as the most budget-friendly of the major inspection packages.
Yes. Reports can be customized with snapshots and exported, including to Excel files. Reviewers note that report automation is limited.
No. GoEngineer's comparison lists the lack of SPC and of MES or QC system integration as limitations.
